How To Get Out Of A Winter Funk

Hi everyone, it has been a minute. I know these long, cold winter months can be difficult, so I wanted to give some tips on how to get out of that winter funk that we all struggle with time to time.

Exercise

Personally for me, I am freezing all winter long. Once I hit the gym I immediately warm up. Getting your body moving is the best way to get back into a routine. Make a goal of how often you will go to the gym in a week, and a list of how many things you will do there as well. This gives you a schedule that you will feel more obligated to stick to. In the winter, with the lack of sunlight and cooler temperatures, we tend to not take as many trips to the gym. They truly are essential to our overall happiness this time of year.

Take A Small Trip

I went to Frankenmuth's annual ice sculpture contest last week, and it was so fun! It was about an hour away from home, and it felt good just to get out of town and be able to do a small road trip again. Don't be afraid to take a small road to get away for a little bit.

Set Goals

You can set up some goals for the year, summer, semester, etc. Think of ideas that make you want to look ahead, and feel hopeful about the future. Personally, I know that there are some destinations I want to travel to this summer, and I have already started doing my research/ planning for the places because creating a trip takes time. You need to always look ahead because where you are right now might not be where you end up.

Listen To Music

Music can take us to so many different places. It can transform our mind and souls. It can change our feelings and emotions so easily. Create a playlist that makes you happy and motivated. Listen to it in the car, at home, at the gym, anywhere you need a pick-me-up.

Treat Yourself

Now is the time to put you first, by giving yourself rewards. This can be a day at the mall, a splurge meal, a vacation, etc. If you are feeling down, it is time to treat yourself. What is life without the fabulous things it has to offer?! Rewarding yourself here and there will not only make you feel better, but will lift your spirits by showing you that you deserve a treat.

Create Your Own Summer

Yep, you read that right. You can create your own summer. Play some beachy tunes, put on some self-tanner, eat some ice cream, reminisce from last year's summer pictures. There are so many options on how you can make your own summer time in the winter.

I hope these tips helped on how to break that horrible winter funk. I am a summer baby, so you know I am missing it right now, as it is 10° outside today with a winter storm warning. Hang in there everyone. We will get through this together.

Xoxo,

Chey
